30th & Golden Birthday ReCap
October 2, 2011
As promised, Jeff’s 30th Birthday was pretty awesome, we partied like we were 25 and felt like we were 50 the next day, I think I’m still nursing a hangover. Some highlights include;
- Keg stands
- Goldschlager shots
- Surprise appearances by Luke Randall
- Almost getting in a fight with our jerky neighbor
- Wayne’s World quoting contests
- Matt walking/running home at 6 am cause he lost his keys
- 3 Ripplingers sleeping in Finn’s bed (shhh don’t tell Finn)
- Stolen fire pits
- Most awesome food ever had at a birthday party.
I just was informed by my hubbie that he will be leaving on Wednesday for three days, “holy shit” are the only words coming to mind. I am super scared to be left alone with these two crazy kids plus no adult interaction in my life for three long days. In early September I had to watch Finn and Gus all by myself for five days while Jeff had the flu and I think it scarred me for life. If anyone wants to come visit me that would be SO awesome!
August Jack - 9 Weeks Old
September 30, 2011
So every Friday I am going to start putting together a weekly recap of Gus, I wish I would have started this earlier but better late than never. Today we have reached 9 weeks and yesterday Gus was officially 2 months old.
Gus, this week you played a ton with Elsa & Finn, you smiled at us a lot and we showed you your entire toy collection. One night dad accidentally left your monitor downstairs, I didn’t realize it until the middle of the night. You must have been crying for awhile, we felt pretty crappy about the whole thing. The good news is the next night you only woke up once for a bottle and a diaper change which was a life changing experience for yer dad and I. Today is your dad’s 30th birthday, you only got to know him as a young pup for a few short months, and tonight you are gonna have your first ever Grammy & Grumpy sleepover while dad and I stay home and host a most righteous birthday party.
Me: “Do you want grapes or bananas with your lunch?”
— Duh Auntie Scoops, chicken nuggets and cupcakes are the best.
Elsa: “I want C U P C A K E S.”//
Playing is awesome, duh.

Let me start by saying that this is the first time I’ve used a video editor in a long time but I thought it would be good practice for me to attempt piecing together a Gus montage.
It is now a daily part of our (me, Finn & Elsa’s) routine to spend at least an hour on the floor “showing” Gus how to play. We get out ALL of Gus’ toys and I mean all of them and we show them to him one by one. Everyday August is becoming more interactive with the kids; he shares more and more smiles, and is getting better at reaching out for toys. It’s fun watching them all grow up together, and it’s weird to think that Gus will never know a world without Finn & Elsa in it.
Photo Booth Party(?)
September 27, 2011
Oh we are bored (and sad, and lonely, and frustrated) today. We have been entertaining ourselves with this cool app La Photo Cabine (so totally french of us) in between rushing to the potty chair, changing poop diapers and cleaning puke off of the living room couch. Somedays are hard that is for sure, today is officially the hardest… at least I don’t think it could get much worse. Photoboothing has helped us all to keep focus on positive things in the midst of all the chaos (and I don’t use that word lightly).
I made my bed I’ll lie in it.
September 25, 2011
After weeks of NOT making my bed and NOT cleaning my room I finally took the time and cleaned up my mess. I forgot how much I LOVE a made bed and a tidy room. From now on I will make my bed every day or else.
P.S. now I can’t get the lyrics to “Miss World” out of my head.
Finn: “I just need some me time”//
